Logan Square Engagement | Hannah and Dathan

Hannah and Dathan | Logan Square | Chicago, Illinois • As I road the Milwaukee North Metra into the city, I couldn’t help but be excited. I hopped onto the Blue Line south of Union Station and took it north to Logan Square. I’d never done a session in this area before and being able to shoot somewhere new is always excited. But where to eat? I was an hour early. I decided on a place called Reno, across from the Logan Square train stop that had some of the best pizza I have ever had. I highly recommend the Spanish Monster. Chorizo plus mushrooms equals awesome. When I crossed the street back to the station and found Dathan, he told me how much they loved the place. I was glad to know I’d picked a good spot to eat on a whim. Hannah arrived soon after, holding a bag and a huge smile and told me that it was full of presents for our son, Ezra; fortune cookie shoes (which is totally us), a cute little Year of the Sheep box (awesome), complete with a stuffed sheep and some some adorable pajamas, with hat, covered in stars and little lamb constellations. I was touched to say the very least. From there we headed off to take photos amongst murals and old signs, down Kedzie in-between trees, and against aging brick walls. We finally arrived at Palmer Square, our last spot and a beautiful little park full of young children and elderly trees. As the sun went down, I told Dathan to pick up Hannah and spin her — which he did like a helicopter blade. We all laughed because I honestly didn’t know how he’d held onto her without letting go. But maybe I shouldn’t have been … and maybe it’s a sign of how good their marriage will be. Because that’s what marriage gives you, right? At least for Cathy and I. No matter how fast life spins us, as long as we can hold on tight to one another, we’ve got someone to laugh and enjoy the ride with.

Much Love,
Cathy and David
