Long Lake Engagement | Grant Forest Preserve

Post by David • We recently started offering mini-sessions and Marika and Joel were the first couple to book us for one. Mini-sessions must be near our home on a lake in the northwest suburbs. What’s great is that we have the Grant Forest Preserve only a couple of miles from our house that is perfect for these kinds of sessions, especially for couples that love trees and wilderness. It’s also perfect for biking and walking. Cathy and I went for a walk there the other night and found two snakes, a toad and a praying mantis! We often come across deer running across the path as well and in the spring you’ll find little fawns.

So Marika and Joel hopped in their car and headed up to our place. We were worried about the weather all day but decided to go for it and I’m glad we did and having to schedule the session minutes before sunset (because of the weather) made it even better. We absolutely LOVED working with these two because of their vibrant personalities, limitless carefree joy and absolute trust they put in us to just do our thing and capture something awesome — all the quality we look for in potential clients. We recently shot their two-day Nigerian Wedding and I seriously cannot wait to show those photos on our blog as well because their family and friends were just as animated and fun as these two.

Much love,
Cathy and David
