Post by David • For a recent interview with a wedding photographer website, I was asked “What do I want to photograph the most” or something along those lines. My answer was that I’d love to see a hair stylist with the guys, because why should the ladies have all the fun? Wouldn’t it be awesome to have something other than a bunch of guys sitting on the couch watching a game and drinking beer (as relaxing as that might be). Well at Carie and Tim’s wedding, I had that wish fulfilled! The guys had an amazing barber who did an excellent job. Cathy and I had a little fun at this wedding by switching up roles during the ceremony. Instead of Cathy staying at the back and me being center aisle, we reversed our standard to give ourselves something new. It’s always good to give yourself something new to shoot, a new experience, to halt any chance of complacency. Their wedding took place at Cloister in the Woods, a cute venue in northern Indiana we haven’t had the opportunity to shoot at for years. Have I mentioned how much we love the freedom an outdoor wedding gives us? Carie and Tim gave us zero restrictions! Whenever that happens we always make it a point to do our best to not take advantage of that, staying as unobtrusive as we can and keeping the focus on the bride and groom — however, having the freedom to capture their day from any angle when it’s needed is amazing as an artist. 🙂 Thanks so much guys for giving us so much freedom, for trusting us completely and being incredible to work with!| Carrie and Tim |

Where did you go on your honeymoon? • We stayed at home for our honeymoon. We decided to spend our time off after the wedding with family and friends who had come from out of town.
What was your favorite adventure? • We went downtown twice once to “Jazzin’ at the Shed” and then a second time with some friends where we played a rousing game of boccie ball, had dinner at the Side Door and took a kayak trip to see the Navy Pier fireworks.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Carie: I really enjoyed the whole day. I was nervous leading up to it, but it all happened so fast, I don’t know if I could pin point the exact moment that was my favorite. I loved every moment!
Tim: I would have to say the first look was possibly my favorite. I had no idea what to expect her dress to look like, and somehow I had completely underestimated how beautiful she would look.
Do you have any advice for couples getting married?
Carie: I would only say, enjoy your day. Don’t let small mishaps get to you. If something doesn’t go as planned…just let it happen it will all work out. In the overall scheme of the day that small issue is nothing.
Tim: Don’t worry about things going wrong. You are surrounded by people who will make sure things work out for you. Focus on her/him… That’s why you’re there.
