Day 1 – Ramanda Inn
Glendale Heights, Illinois
Day 2 – The Stonegate
Hoffman Estates, Illinois
Written by Chicago Wedding Photographer, David Bock / Images by Cathy and David — This was the first Pakistani wedding for Cathy and I and Samreen was nice enough to go over all the difference between other weddings we’d been to with similar customs. Samreen planned most of the wedding from her home in London so the phone calls were always at very odd hours. It was nice to meet her in person the week of the wedding at Semiramis where we meet most of our clients — a restaurant a block from us that is a wonderful and quiet setting for meetings over turkish coffee and mint tea (not to mention their house olives). We highly recommend their falafel too, btw.
Regardless as to the little differences here and there, one thing that always strikes me about middle eastern and south asian weddings is the amount of fun we always have at them. All the dancing, the bright colors, laughter and joy culminate every evening with us feeling so warm and welcomed from the generous hearts of their family and friends. This wedding was no different. We were definitely filled to the brim with fabulously spicy food which we thankfully have a very high tolerance for, living so close to Korea town. I was given sweets in the morning by the groom the second day and urged to go back for seconds that evening. It was two days of awesome (and food, oh my gosh the food). The multiple days of coverage is another favorite part for me when it comes to these kinds of weddings. We love getting to know the bride and groom over the entire weekend. And by the second or third day it seems as though everyone knows us, and what to expect. It’s a reason we always highly encourage our other couples to get rehearsal dinner coverage.
Samreen! Faisal! Thanks so much for having us as your photographers and being so kind and wonderful to us! 🙂 We loved being a part of your lives for two days and absolutely loved every moment. 🙂
Much Love,
