Wedding on July 24, 2010 at Casa Del Roma in Valparaiso, IN - (Post by David) Okay, so seriously, this was one of the most fun we’ve had with in a photobooth. These guys were so much fun to work with and knowing half their family always makes it super fun to just go crazy and have people just be themselves in the photos. Plus we got some of the cutest kid photos EVER for our photobooth too!

Okay. I know I say ‘seriously!’ way to often but SERIOUSLY!

And then we had a jowling contest… for no reason. lol. I’d never tried it in the photobooth but figured this would be the group to go for it with. Surprisingly — the winner for the day? GRANDMA!

Wedding on July 24, 2010 at Casa Del Roma in Valparaiso, IN - (Post by Cathy) I’m going to admit right now that I am in a huge adjective rut. I just wrote this entire blog entry and then saw that I used the words PERFECT and AWESOME waaay too many times. (And any of our couples probably know that I do that a lot when I’m shooting too. >.<) So I’m going to try it one more time, because these two really deserve some better adjectives!

We’ve known Julie and Jonathan (and Jonathan’s super sweet family), ever since we shot Jonathan’s brother David and his wife Lizzie’s Bloomington wedding, and it was so much fun to get to see everyone again. Both Julie and Jonathan’s families are simply amazingly kind and wonderful people to be around, and they definitely know how to kick back and have a good time.

Julie spent all morning laughing and hanging out with her bridesmaids and family while getting ready, while Jonathan and the guys did some finishing touches on the the ceremony site. The ceremony took place in the backyard of Jonathan’s parents’ house in DeMotte, Indiana with the sun streaming down through the trees. And I have to mention that we were so impressed that Julie, Jonathan, and their families did pretty much all of the decorating and flowers themselves(even making their own aisle runner!), and everything looked absolutely gorgeous. The reception in Valpo was a blast, and for anyone who doesn’t know these two… Julie and Jonathan are amazing dancers! Seriously, they were out on the dance floor with the band most of the night and it was so much fun just watching them together.

Julie and Jonathan – We loved working with you guys!!! It was so much fun hanging out with you and your families. We were seriously honored to capture your day for you and we hope you love the photos!

Wedding on July 10, 2010 at the Indiana Statehouse and the Rathskeller in Indianapolis, Indiana - (Post by Cathy) We first met Sara and Josh a while back on a beautiful afternoon for their West Lafayette engagement session on Purdue campus (along with their adorable dog Daisy). They are both super laid back with a great sense of humor and are so easy to work with. We knew immediately that their wedding was going to be awesome to shoot!

The day of Sara and Josh’s wedding in Indianapolis was hot, but absolutely gorgeous. The sun was shining bright all day and there wasn’t a drop of rain to be seen. When we met with Sara at the salon, she had been there with her mom and bridesmaids since bright and early getting everyone gussied up, and she was super excited to get the day started. They spent the morning chatting and laughing over college stories and telling me how they had all met at Purdue (go Boilers!!!). So, of course, the Purdue fight song was a hit at the reception.

Everything about the day went smoothly and perfectly, and these two looked so happy together dancing the night away at their reception. Sara and Josh – it was an honor to capture your day. You two are absolutely perfect together and we had a blast hanging out with you and  your friends and family. Hope you enjoy the photos!:)

Wedding on June 26th at Aberdeen Manor in Valparaiso, Indiana - (Post by David) Back in my past life while working as a full time graphic designer I had talked with a lot of graphic design firms. Well Kara’s sister Kristen worked at one of them and after we shot her friend Meghan’s wedding she recommended us to Kara.

Their wedding was at the gorgeous St. Paul Catholic Church was was just plain stunning to say the least with it’s incredible stained glass walls. The ceremony was filled with Filipino traditions that were completely new to us and their reception was filled with the same love and joy that one would expect from such a sweet couple.

We had so much fun with these two and loved how much the couple spent out on the dance floor, and how much their family did with them. It’s weddings like these when we question if we’re really, truly, working.

It was so sweet. About a minute in to each dance other father-daughter and mother-son couples came out on the floor.

The gal below on the left sang a special ‘At Last’ and I swear she did it better than Ella Fitzgerald!

Backyard wedding on June 12th, 2010 in Bloomington, Indiana - (Post by David) When it rains it pours. And for the entire week before the wedding we were on pins and needles as to whether or not the Bride would have to run through a rain storm. Thankfully the only time an umbrella was needed was in their PhotoBooth … more on that in the next post.

By the end of the night the grass floor of the tent had become something reminiscent of Woodstock — random puddles, muddy bare feet, and lots of dancing. People cared less about their shoes and more about having fun. It was amazing to see nothing get in the way of the love and happiness of the newlywed couple.

Thank you Anna and Sean for having us as your wedding photographers. We had so much fun with you on your wedding day and can’t wait for you to see the rest of your photos and the sneak peek of your PhotoBooth in the next post!

What’s great is that the next two photos were taken nearly at the same time.

Somebody wants a camera!

The little ring-bearer basically tried to give everyone at the wedding the pillow on the way down. Including me!

Yup. Their Buick is waaaaay cooler than ours.

It was seriously humid. But they didn’t sweat it. (Bad joke, I know!)

Next the wind started to blow like crazy.

And the rain started pouring.

And they couldn’t be happier.

They also did a slideshow on the ceiling. Natural light here — this is how dark it was when the power went out!

My shoes were pretty mild by comparison to most. The only dry place in the entire tent was our PhotoBooth (coming later this week)!

Wedding on May 22nd, 2010 at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana - (Post by Cathy) We have been so impatiently waiting for this day! We have known Amanda for a while now, ever since she accompanied her friend Summer to a meeting with us over coffee. Summer soon booked us for her and Ryan’s Huntingburg wedding, as did Amanda’s friends Meredith (who sung during the ceremony! YAH!) and Ulises. And then it was Amanda’s turn to be engaged and of course she called us up as soon as the ring was on her finger.

So when Amanda and Roger’s wedding day finally arrived, we were almost as excited as they were. Amanda’s girls (who were all stunningly beautiful!) were by her side all day and kept her calm and laughing until it was finally time for the ceremony. Before stepping through the church doors to walk down the aisle, Amanda stood outside with her girls concentrating on breathing and holding back her tears. Her dad, who had yet to see Amanda in her dress, stepped outside to join her. He literally could not contain the emotions that hit him when he saw his only daughter looking so beautiful in the most important dress of her life. Standing outside those church doors watching Amanda’s dad admiring his daughter and wiping away tears was probably one of the most emotional moments I’ve witnessed at a wedding. And that was just the beginning. From their vows to their speeches at the reception to their very first dance, everything about this day was full of genuine emotion and love.

Amanda and Roger – We had an awesome day with you two. Thank you SO much for letting us be a part of it. It was an honor to capture your first moments as husband and wife and we had such a blast hanging out with your friends and family! Hope you’re having an amazing honeymoon and we love you both!!!

Stacey Mayo and her team did an AMAZING job (as usual!!!) on Amanda and the bridesmaid’s makeup. She’s our fav.

Amanda’s church was simply stunning to say the least.

David and the guys went up in the old bell tower to get these (both with natural light!). Apparently it was a bit rickety and steep because David came back down covered in a nervous sweat.

Normally David is the one that gets choked up at weddings. This time though, Amanda and her dad really got me going.

Thumbs up!

David was almost in tears laughing when he took this. The guys didn’t have a clue why till after he took it.

Every so often we shoot at a reception location that goes above and beyond expectations. French Lick Springs Resort was impeccable. The service was incredible, and the staff was super-friendly. We could shoot at this location for every wedding and love every minute of it. Honestly if you’re thinking of having your wedding here you’ll have nothing to worry about! David’ pet peeve is that most places don’t iron the table cloths. See any wrinkles on the left? NOPE!

Amanda and Roger gave an incredibly heartfelt thank you to their guests before they did their first dance. It was so sweet and a very tearful moment.

Amanda and Roger hired a band from Atlanta who did an awesome job!

We loved the bridal party at this wedding.

Wow. Have we been busy!

We’ve been getting a couple people asking us when our next entry would be and it’s coming up here today! (Well besides this one!

LOCAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY MARKETS— We’ll talk about this in a future blog entry in more detail but basically if you’re thinking about booking us for your wedding day, or haven’t thought about us and live in a major city nearby you’ll have even more reason to do so. If you live in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio or Kentucky, you will have NO TRAVEL FEE. We’ll treat your town as if it were our own! More details on this to come soon.

SHOOTQ— We’re now working with a new system called ShootQ and we absolutely LOVE IT. If you’re a photographer and you want to know how to make life easier for yourselves, and your brides you should totally try it out (just click the link below)!!! Basically, ShootQ works as a digital secretary for us. Our couples can now go online, check/pay invoices, see the status of their orders, ask us questions, answer questionnaires about their wedding, with each couple having their own access page! It’s pretty dang swank. Not only that but their customer service is serious awesomeness. You guys ROCK!

Seymour, Indiana – September 20, 2008.

At the close of this wedding, Luke came up and put his arm around me and said that he’d like a photo with us because he thought we were totally a part of their day. We love feeling that way at weddings. We know it’s always about the Bride and Groom, but it feels so cool to be a part of the most amazing point in a couples life. These two are desperately in love. I’ve never seen a groom try so hard not to cry, while his friends and family teared up around him. I knew I was going to lose it.

When Cat and I shot Jennifer and Luke’s engagement session out in the middle of nowhere at a nature reserve we had never heard of we knew these two were going to be fun. We knew they were in love by the looks in eachother’s eyes. We’re always so happy to see couples so dearly in love with one another. We’ve been so blessed to get one after another.

We met with Jennifer at the salon with three of her bridesmaids, one of them, Laura, wants to be a wedding baker and made these (seriously) amazing cookies for their day. We think she’ll go far if she always brings people yummy snacks! Haha! At the end of the salon session we found out that their hair stylist had known them forever and were like a part of the family, we got the idea that anyone involved with these two would end up feeling like family. A trip to McDonald’s for the girls and over at the church I saw a huge white tent in the back and came to find out that her mom did the flowers (holy cow!) and the guys decorated the tent (and did a nice job!!). All the programs were hand made and so beautiful. We took pre-formals (they didn’t see eachother till after) and then the wedding started.

Little did I know that Luke’s father was marrying them like Cat’s dad married us. Little did I know that Somewhere Over the Rainbow (our first dance) was going to play at the end. And how could I have known that people would be tearing up all around me. By the end of the ceremony tears were pouring down my face and I could barely see through the viewfinder. I love this job.

After the wedding we headed off to the reception outside and enjoyed cookies, yummy’s (prepared by Luke’s aunt, is everyone accomplished in this family??) and a slideshow of the couple with photos we took of them at their engagement session in it too! So cool seeing your photographs all big and huge on a tent ceiling!
