Chicago, Illinois — We’ve been in talks with these two for quite a while now and were so excited to finally be able to shoot their engagement session in Chicago. Laura and John are a non-stop happiness machine, which might be the cheesiest thing I’ve ever said, but seriously these two just don’t quit! John (who seriously looks like Joshua Gates from Destination Truth, one of my absolute favorite shows) kept us all laughing the entire session. From chasing seagulls, to manly poses in tulips; it just makes me more excited about their wedding day and how fun they are going to be to work with. Anyways, thanks again guys for the fun, the laughs, and for the chance to get to shoot in one of my favorite cities.

Let me tell yah, Lake Shore Drive is cold 365 days of the year. I don’t care if it’s August. But, you’d never know from these two.

Word to the wise. When the wind hits, Buckingham Fountain’s spray likes to follow you, or at least me…

The light up in Chicago seriously made me want to move there.

For some reason there was music playing through speakers in Grant Park at around 8pm for no reason. It reminded me of Disneyworld and was so completely random. Regardless, Laura and John decided to dance.

This picture just makes us smile.

The session ended with one of the prettiest city skyline sunsets I’ve seen in a long time.

Engagement Photography Session on October 7th, 2009 – Indianapolis University Campus, Bloomington Indiana

Oh the connections game. It continues onward. Meet Elizabeth and Erik. Do you remember Lizzie and David’s Bloomington wedding? Well Erik is David’s friend, and Elizabeth was Lizzie’s roommate (who knew Amanda bla bla bla), not to mention we’ll be shooting David’s brother’s engagement session next week. The list goes onward. We were so excited after we shot Lizzie & David’s engagement photos in Bloomington to hear from Elizabeth & Erik that they wanted us to be their engagement photographers, too, but even more excited when they hired us to be the photographers for their Atlanta wedding at the end of January of 2010! Yes. That’s right. Atlanta, Georgia. Only a couple more months guys!!! We are SO excited!

Although Erik didn’t attend the initial meeting that we had with Elizabeth, we were able to get to know him at Lizzie & David’s wedding where he was a groomsman and I quickly caught on that he has a knack for making people laugh (especially Elizabeth!). We had so much fun with these two, and they were so super-kind enough to put up with my terrible jokes that I just plain love them.

I’m not kidding when I tell people we get music majors, lawyers, and graphic designers.

We’ve been waiting for the right couple to shoot near this greenhouse. They were it.

LOVE!!!

Elizabeth is easily distracted.

Little story here… Bloomington, Indiana’s own Finch’s Restaurant (which has AMAZING food btw.. I went here for my birthday with Cathy) is the location of where Erik proposed to Elizabeth. We love being able to shoot in locations with history for our couples. It makes the photos so much more important.

A note to upcoming current/potential brides and clients. First off, we’re fully booked for sessions in October. We just can’t do anymore! Second, we’ll be on vacation from October 24th to November 1st in San Francisco, California with my parents. We’ll put up an away blog entry when we leave (and there will be PLENTY of postings while we’re gone) but just giving a heads up in case some one needs to get in touch with us for anything, NOW is the time!!

Engagement Photography Session on September 13th, 2009 – Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

So I mentioned in the last blog entry that I would talk about how some of our brides know other brides whose weddings we’ve photographed. Let me try and break down how we know Amanda.

1. Amanda came with Summer (whose wedding we’re shooting tomorrow) the first time we met with her. 2. Amanda is also friends with Meredith (who is having a destination wedding in Captiva that we’re shooting in March) and told her about us. 3. Meredith showed apartments to Lizzie and David. 4. Meredith’s fiance is Ulises whose spanish teacher was Maria. 5. Lizzie’s college roommate Elizabeth (and her fiance, one of Erik’s Groomsmen) is having us shoot her wedding in Atlanta this coming January. 6. David (Lizzie and David) has a brother, Jonathan whose wedding we are shooting in Valparaiso next year.

My brain starts to hurt just thinking about it… Anyways, this is always the topic of discussion when we get together with Amanda. Back when we did a couple of our Cathy and David Bride videos, with Summer and Meredith, Amanda came along and we joked that she was a Cathy and David Bridesmaid. We knew that she and Roger were very much in love and we waited for her phone call that they were engaged. I think it was through Summer that we heard the news and Amanda told us that we’d be the ones to shoot their wedding. We were pumped.

So the weekend before last we shot Dyanne and Reid’s Oak Park Wedding and then the next day we drove up to Wisconsin to shoot Amanda and Roger’s engagement session on Lake Geneva. Her parents have a home near the lake and we figured since we would only be a couple of hours away that weekend it would be awesome to shoot there.

After the engagement session, Amanda’s mom took us all out for pizza at the Upper Crust (the best freaking pizza I have EVER had in my life, by the way). I was sad to go, the location was beautiful and I think at some point Cathy and I will head back up there for a weekend.

Anyways, on with the photos!!!

I can only imagine how much fun our friend Ann would have taking photos with their adorable pooch.

Finally!!! Love season is BACK!

 Now that we’re back into the swing of things, we’ve got updates coming to the main site and lots more exciting stuff to talk about. But today our focus is on a super-sweet, magnet-lipped couple, Lizzie and David, whose engagement session we shot yesterday on I.U. campus!

Lizzie and David are one cool love-bunch. These two met at orientation when they started college and have been together ever since. Lizzie is very outgoing, always with an uncontrollable smile on her face, excited about anything that involves her wedding. David is the quiet type but Lizzie can always put a smile on his face in a flash. These two were clearly made for each other from the start. David proposed to Lizzie late at night at the Rose Well House on I.U. campus, after lining it with candles and roses, and after she said yes, they just sat and talked about their upcoming wedding until the bell tower struck midnight. It’s said that it’s good luck to kiss the person you love at midnight in the Rose Well House.

We are so excited about shooting their wedding this July!!
