Bloomington, Indiana Wedding at The Fields on September 18th (post by David) – Whenever Rachel and John go on a vacation they bring a travel journal with them and write down everything that happened so they don’t forget it. On the morning of their wedding day, John received a brand new journal with a message from Rachel to him in it for the start of their new journey together. One of his groomsmen delivered the journal back to Rachel with his message in reply, which brought her to tears.

I’ll be honest. That morning, I was kind of sad to be working on my birthday but Rachel and John were so much fun that I wouldn’t have had it any other way! Whether it was laughing with the guys about the high-water pants or taking photos of the two of them cuddling up, down by the water as the sun went down or enjoying the old family recipes that their caterer was nice enough to put together for the two of them – every second of the day was a blast. We wish them the best in their new life. Bon voyage!

Wedding on August 7th, 2010 at Alumni Hall of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana  - (Post by David) There’s nothing better than having everything fall perfectly into place one step at a time, which is exactly how Katy and Adam’s wedding went. It felt like they had pretty much hired our dream team for Bloomington, Indiana. From Mira Salon and Peppertree Floral to Alumni Hall and our new favorite DJ, Jim Cerone. Katy had everything planned and organized to the tee, and even passed out a detailed spreadsheet to everyone. As a result, the day went smoothly and perfectly on time! We were able to get all of their fun photos on IU campus done before the ceremony as well so that afterwards Adam and Katy were able to relax in their hotel room and have a cold beer with their wedding party before the reception.

For me, the highlights of the night were Katy’s dad’s toast (he really got all of us, even Cathy, going) as well as an entrance by some of the bridal party members involving ripping their shirts off to reveal soccer shirts underneath (for Katy). And the dance floor was seriously packed all night long!

I have to say though that even if everything hadn’t gone amazingly perfect as it did throughout the day these two would have still had a blast. It felt like for them that things going right was just icing on the cake.

Wedding Photography at the Tuduor Room, Indiana University Memorial Union – Bloomington, Indiana

July 11th, 2009 — When I arrived at Lizzie’s IMU hotel suite this past Saturday morning, it was cloudy and pouring down rain, but Lizzie’s spirits could not have been dampened. Her eyes were wide with excitement, and her smile rarely left her lips. Bridesmaids, family, and friends were coming and going, singing and hugging, and telling Lizzie how amazingly beautiful she looked on her wedding day. The entire morning, Lizzie carried around her music soundtrack to the day on her macbook, and we were never without a great song to dance and sing to.

Everything about the ceremony and the reception went flawlessly. Andrea of Peppertree Floral + Events did an amazing job! I absolutely love the Tudor Room at the IU union, and it suited Lizzie and David’s celebration perfectly. The jazz quintet played late into the night, and, since their entire family seemed to be mostly populated by extremely talented professional dancers and musicians, the celebration was like none other. The highlight of the evening had to be John Proulx, a relation to Lizzie, and get this, Grammy Award-winning composer, who wrote a song just for Lizzie and David on their wedding day which got the entire place in tears. Just beautiful!

Lizzie and David – You two are the most adorable couple ever, and you are so perfect for each other. When you were together out in the middle of the crowded dance floor, you just glowed and held each other as if there was no one else in the world. We can tell that you are going to have a marriage full of love and joy. We love you guys, and thanks again for letting us capture your day!!!

The dining table was covered in vases of flowers and bowls of petals, and the girls were dancing and prancing about the house with excitement as they prepared for the day. Enter us, the photographers. “It’s like I know you but I don’t,” she said, eyes wider than half-dollar coins. Anna is perhaps one of the most excited brides and devoted blog-stalkers we’ve ever met. Look back through a few of our blog posts and watch her comments grow more and more ecstatic as her own day drew near. She absolutely could not wait to marry Braden. The second Anna walked down the aisle and met him under the branches of the oak tree she’d played under as a child, it was as if everything was right. They breathed a sigh of relief, and spoke to each other some of the most devoted, heart-felt words I’ve ever heard. Everything about that ceremony was perfect, from the presence of their closest friends and family, laughing and crying, to the odd assortment of mis-matched chairs in which they sat, each one holding a spirit and personality of its own. It was perfectly them.

Anna and Braden – Thank you both so much for giving us the pleasure of capturing your day. Your personalities, your wit, and your love for each other and your families inspire us. You will forever be two of our favorite people.

Wedding Photography at the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, Indiana University – Bloomington, Indiana

Holly and David are one of the coolest (not to mention smashingly good-looking) couples we’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. Their wedding took place on Sunday at the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center on I.U. campus and was SO much fun! I loved every bit of their wedding, and their coordinator, the amazing April Foster, did a great job helping pull the details together. Holly and David’s family and friends were some of the nicest, most genuine people we’ve met, and the party was a blast! Also, one of David’s groomsmen was none other than Aaron Willcox, a wedding photog and all-around cool guy from San Diego. Aaron, you were a blast to hang out with (even though you shoot Nikon).

Okay, so here are some reasons why Holly and David’s wedding was so amazingly awesome:

1. Um…look at the pictures…they’re like models!

2. Holly chose peacock feathers to base the colors and decor on. GORGEOUS!!! I loooved the centerpieces and bouquets. (Also, towards the end of the reception, the peacock feathers mysteriously disappeared from the centerpieces and showed up coming out the backs of peoples shirts and pants!)

3. David and his family are very athletic and competitive and all ran a 5K the morning of his wedding! Seriously…a 5K!?
Holly and David – Wow, what can we say about you guys. You are so amazing together. We love the way that Holly smiled from ear to ear every time she looked at David, and we love the way that David cried before the ceremony as he rehearsed his vows. Thanks you two for being so awesome and for letting us capture your day! We hope you two have fun in Hawaii!!!

Wedding Photography at Swingers – Bloomington, Illinois

Yep! That’s right! Bloomington, Illinois!! My (David’s) hometown! And now I live in Bloomington, IN. How weird is that?! Anyways, so my mom gets her hair done at a salon in Bloomington, IL called Jenni’s, and one of the stylists there, Kyle, found out about us through her. Nothing like having a mom who can give out shameless plugs for you.

So, a few weeks later, we met up with Kyle and her fiance John and the date was set. We arrived at Jenni’s the day of their wedding to find it completely packed full of brides and bridesmaids. It seemed that three brides would be passing through that morning, which gave us a chance to make some new photographer friends. It was surprisingly easy to stay out of each others shots even with all the mirrors!

Okay, so I have to mention what the guys ate for lunch… AVANTI’S! For those of you not aware, Avanti’s is located in Illinois and is like a drug for me. Seriously, I go there every time I’m back in town and they have the BEST sub sandwiches ever (“Gondolas”). While I was laughing it up with the guys, Cathy was off with the girls, and Kyle kept getting choked up about the big day, reminding Cathy of our own wedding, where seriously, everyone cried, including yours truly. Kyle and John’s ceremony was equally emotional, and so beautiful.

The reception was held at Swingers (it’s a golf club!!, so stop getting ideas. ) and it was a totally new experience. It had this cooky bar/underground restaurant feel to it with huge windows opening out onto the driving range, letting in a ton of light. It was fantastic shooting in and we loved it just because it was so different. Very swank choice. And at the end of the night, we parted ways with big hugs and happy faces and loved every single minute of it. Apart from one of Cathy’s lenses deciding to die on her (you’ll be hearing from us soon Canon!!!) the day went off without a single hitch! Congratulations guys on an awesome wedding, and with that, here are your photos!!!
