Our Style

As wedding photojournalists, it’s our goal to tell the unique story of your day. Your wedding day is unlike anyone else’s. You’ve been planning for it and dreaming about it for so long, and it’s finally here. And we want to be just as excited about your day as you are. We approach every wedding differently, because each one is so unique, from your individual personalities and how you express your love to each other — to the details of your dress and setting of the tables. We’re there to capture it all and to tell the story how you envision it and how you experience it so that you can remember those moments forever.

While we do take the basic family formals, our concentration is on capturing candid moments. When your dad is walking you down the aisle, instead of you two smiling at the camera, we want to catch that moment when he’s smiling over at you with tears already forming in his eyes. We want to capture the look on your groom’s face when he sees you for the first time in that dress and his breath catches in his throat because he can’t believe how amazingly lucky he is. And we want to capture those fun photos too that will make you laugh every time you see them — your great aunt doing the electric slide on the dance floor, your 6-year old nephew asleep under the coat rack, your maid of honor having the hiccups during the ceremony. You’ll want to remember every one of these moments.

YOUR DAY

In order to tell the complete story of your day, we usually split up in the morning  –David will meet up with the groom and Cathy with the bride. For the first part of the day, we will be your hip attachments, and these yield some of the greatest and most honest images of the day. Everything is ahead of you — you’re nervous and excited at the same time, you’re laughing with your friends and sipping mimosas, and getting overwhelmed every time your mom starts to cry.

After everyone is dressed and ready, we often have a “first look.” For couples that want to get their formal photos out of the way before the ceremony, so that they don’t have to keep their guests waiting (which we highly suggest), this is the moment that the groom sees his bride in her wedding gown for the first time. Sometimes it’s a private, quiet moment between the two of you, and other times family and friends watch and cheer as you two fall into each other’s arms.

It also helps that we absolutely love what we do, and our clients can see that. We’re not flies on the wall. We like to blend in with your guests rather than hide from from them.:)We want to laugh with them and jump out in the dance floor with them. We capture our photos by being inside the group instead of peeking in from the outside.
