Okay. I know I say ‘seriously!’ way to often but SERIOUSLY!

And then we had a jowling contest… for no reason. lol. I’d never tried it in the photobooth but figured this would be the group to go for it with. Surprisingly — the winner for the day? GRANDMA!

We’ve known Julie and Jonathan (and Jonathan’s super sweet family), ever since we shot Jonathan’s brother David and his wife Lizzie’s Bloomington wedding, and it was so much fun to get to see everyone again. Both Julie and Jonathan’s families are simply amazingly kind and wonderful people to be around, and they definitely know how to kick back and have a good time.

Julie spent all morning laughing and hanging out with her bridesmaids and family while getting ready, while Jonathan and the guys did some finishing touches on the the ceremony site. The ceremony took place in the backyard of Jonathan’s parents’ house in DeMotte, Indiana with the sun streaming down through the trees. And I have to mention that we were so impressed that Julie, Jonathan, and their families did pretty much all of the decorating and flowers themselves(even making their own aisle runner!), and everything looked absolutely gorgeous. The reception in Valpo was a blast, and for anyone who doesn’t know these two… Julie and Jonathan are amazing dancers! Seriously, they were out on the dance floor with the band most of the night and it was so much fun just watching them together.

The day of Sara and Josh’s wedding in Indianapolis was hot, but absolutely gorgeous. The sun was shining bright all day and there wasn’t a drop of rain to be seen. When we met with Sara at the salon, she had been there with her mom and bridesmaids since bright and early getting everyone gussied up, and she was super excited to get the day started. They spent the morning chatting and laughing over college stories and telling me how they had all met at Purdue (go Boilers!!!). So, of course, the Purdue fight song was a hit at the reception.

Everything about the day went smoothly and perfectly, and these two looked so happy together dancing the night away at their reception. Sara and Josh – it was an honor to capture your day. You two are absolutely perfect together and we had a blast hanging out with you and  your friends and family. Hope you enjoy the photos!:)

The morning started in Deb’s hotel suite where family members and bridesmaids (and the two most adorable flower girls ever) bustled here and there. And in the center of the storm was Deb who remained calm and in control the entire day and made sure to enjoy every moment. The ceremony at St. Ann’s in Nyack was absolutely gorgeous, and afterwards we had some perfect sunlight for some rockin’ portraits. And later in the evening, the reception was out of control, with break dancing, cake smashing, and the traditional tying of the ties around the head. In short, it was awesome.

Deb and Jon – Thank you two so much for having a couple of backwoods midwesterners out to New York to shoot your wedding. You two were such a pleasure to photograph and we had such an awesome time hanging with you. We truly hope you love the photos as much as we do!

At the rehearsal everyone laughed and loved and Deb and Jon passed out their gifts to the bridal party and family. I seriously wanted her Dad’s USB record player but I couldn’t fit it in my camera bag.

Deb was always watching Jon.

Their wedding was at the gorgeous St. Paul Catholic Church was was just plain stunning to say the least with it’s incredible stained glass walls. The ceremony was filled with Filipino traditions that were completely new to us and their reception was filled with the same love and joy that one would expect from such a sweet couple.

We had so much fun with these two and loved how much the couple spent out on the dance floor, and how much their family did with them. It’s weddings like these when we question if we’re really, truly, working.

I love the photo on the left. They were sneaking back from the photos with us.

It was so sweet. About a minute in to each dance other father-daughter and mother-son couples came out on the floor.

The gal below on the left sang a special ‘At Last’ and I swear she did it better than Ella Fitzgerald!

This is one of Cat’s favorite photos. It just plain cracks me up.

The couple had rented an old-school photobooth for their wedding and just had to snap a couple of these two.

That said, we knew they were perfect for a video project we’ve been working on with Northernlight Filmworks‘ John and Jen Moon (who are some of the absolute best wedding cinematographers in the midwest, if not the country in our opinion). All of us met up at Meredith and Ulises’ new place in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and sat aside while John and Jen interviewed them about their experiences with working with us and went over their beautiful album for the first time. We can’t wait for you to see the video and it’ll be here when it’s done, so just be patient (and that goes for you too Mer! ).

Next we all piled into our cars and drove downtown to Millennium Park to shoot their newlywed session, and John’s steady-cam team met up with us to get some super-cool shots of us working. We had so much fun with these two and I’d love to say that it was ‘like‘ getting together with old friends, but in all honesty, that’s exactly what it was. We are happy to call them friends and can’t wait to see them again.

The ceremony and reception were absolutely gorgeous, with the help of their super-talented event designer, Beth Maxwell (who we totally recommend if you’re getting married in central Illinois!). And the thing that totally made the day as special as it was, was the support from family and friends that Aneesha and Kirk had surrounding them, especially their awesome parents who even hopped in the limo bus with the bridal party after the ceremony. The very end of the night, before Aneesha and Kirk left the reception, was probably one of the most emotional moments of the day. Aneesha had to wipe away tears as she and Kirk hugged their parents goodbye. Their families were so awesome that even Dave and I got hugs all around when the night was done.

Aneesha and Kirk – You two are awesome (David thinks I used that word too much in this post )! We had such a great time getting to know you two and your friends and family. Thank you so so much for asking us to capture your day!

Meet Aneesha and Kirk.

We love this photo. Feels so much like a movie.

On a side note, David wanted me to point out that the image of Aneesha’s three brothers on the left was totally candid. They were just standing there like the mod squad as they waited their turn for formals so I snapped it.

Seriously. We could shoot in Peoria EVERY weekend and get something new.

David and I debated showing this one in color or b&w but in the end, I let him win.

…and out of nowhere Aneesha’s veil attacked Kirk.

This just might have been our favorite cake, ever.

Did we mention that Aneesha was seriously non-stop on the dance floor?

So a little side note about Aneesha’s dad there on the right. When we stopped by to visit David’s Dad and Step-mom on the way home (they live in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois) we showed them some of the photos. Well it turns out that Carla, David’s step-mom used to work for Aneesha’s dad! Small world, no?

PhotoBooth on June 12th, 2010 at a backyard wedding in Bloomington, Indiana - (Post by David) We had so much fun with Anna and Sean and their guests at our Photobooth. It was beyond hysterical to see their friends and family go nuts with the props that Anna provided. We like every Photobooth to be unique so the couple can provide their own props and gag items or the friends and family can grab whatever is nearby and drag it in. Remember our umbrella we brought to the wedding but never needed? Yah well.. it was needed in the Photobooth.

Apparently myopic vikings wielded tennis rackets when they got married…?

We were totally shocked to see this gal who was a bridesmaid at Anna and Braden’s wedding!

By the end of the night the grass floor of the tent had become something reminiscent of Woodstock — random puddles, muddy bare feet, and lots of dancing. People cared less about their shoes and more about having fun. It was amazing to see nothing get in the way of the love and happiness of the newlywed couple.

What’s great is that the next two photos were taken nearly at the same time.

Somebody wants a camera!

The little ring-bearer basically tried to give everyone at the wedding the pillow on the way down. Including me!

Yup. Their Buick is waaaaay cooler than ours.

It was seriously humid. But they didn’t sweat it. (Bad joke, I know!)

Next the wind started to blow like crazy.

And the rain started pouring.

And they couldn’t be happier.

They also did a slideshow on the ceiling. Natural light here — this is how dark it was when the power went out!

My shoes were pretty mild by comparison to most. The only dry place in the entire tent was our PhotoBooth (coming later this week)!
