Post by David – Alright. So normally the first thing I would talk about for a wedding would be the day, and how pretty everything was but for this one the first thing I have to mention is the little desert that Brieanne herself made for all of her guests. WOW. She set out to make Oreo truffle balls. Holy wow they were good. I still have dreams about them, and Brieanne was nice enough to share them with me and I plan on making them this weekend. Brieanne is actually a personal chef and trainer and is working on starting a food blog that we’re very excited about! As soon as it becomes available we’ll be sure to do a blog post on here so everyone can head on over and get some fantastic recipes. Honestly, any time our clients talk about food, or mention food, we’re sold. We’re in 100%.

That said, beyond the food Brieanne and Michael were so much fun, such good sports, and just had an absolute blast on their wedding day and that just makes our job easier. Thank you so much to the both of you for making us feel so welcome at your wedding and constantly staying in touch with us. If you’re even in Chicago, hit us up for some good food and drinks.

When I looked at the Armour House in Lake Forest, Illinois online I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be in person. The flowers all in bloom, the gorgeous fountains, the stunning architecture and everything about this wedding location were absolutely stunning to behold. I was absolutely thrilled that Kaitlin and Vaibhav had chosen us as their wedding photographers to cover their two day catholic and hindu celebrations.

The first day they had a beautiful catholic ceremony. After that we took them around town for portraits where we had so much fun with these two. Vaibhav was awesome at getting Kaitlin to laugh.

The second day I met up with Vaibhav at his parent’s house in Lake Forest, IL for a traditional home made breakfast that was out of this world good. I had some seriously generous portions of all sorts of new foods (which I love) in one hand and my camera in the other. Vaibhav’s family really new the way into my heart there. Afterwards we all headed over to Armour House where Cathy and I nearly lost our minds with excitement at all of the beautiful locations we were able to shoot at, and as always excited when we know a ceremony and reception are all going to take place at the same location. We were also overwhelmed by the amazing job that Yanni Design Studio did at this wedding. We’d recommend them to anyone and everyone for their Chicago florist. Seriously. WOW.

Whether it was during the parade before their Hindu ceremony, or during the dancing afterwards at the reception it felt as though the day was constantly in movement and neither of us could help but move along with it. Though I don’t think anyone was impressed by my dancing skills.

Alright. I’m just going to be completely honest here. I knew for sure that Heather and Steve were going to rock. Their multi-day engagement session in Indianapolis at the Colt’s Lucas Oil Stadium was awesome and not just because we talked about shrimp and barbecued ribs the entire time. These two are so natural with one another and so fun to be around. What I didn’t know about their wedding was that they were going to have one of the coolest bridal parties we’ve ever had the joy of working with. They were fun, into everything we were doing and made our jobs so easy by just being themselves, and making us a part of the action — on more than one occasion.

So that said, if you’re looking to have a fun bridal party for your wedding just ask Heather and Steve if you can borrow theirs.

Post by David – Soon after booking Veronica and Nelson we thought that Veronica’s name sounded super-familiar. So we did a little digging and discovered that she was an author, ‘the’ Veronica Roth — a New York Times best-seller and everything. There’s even a movie deal with Summit Films (who did Twilight). She also has an awesome writing blog that we follow. How cool is that?

These two were such a cute couple on their wedding day.  Nelson’s main focus the entire day was Veronica and making sure she was having a good time, that everything was going perfectly for her. I felt the need to remind him a couple times that it was his wedding too.

PS: If you want to check out Veronica Roth’s book it’s called “Divergent“, book one of a trilogy. We highly recommend it as it’s a SERIOUSLY good read.

On a side note, this had to be one of the most beautiful churches we’ve ever shot a wedding in. And I don’t say that lightly.

Seriously. This is the most beautiful church in Chicago by far. Just my personal opinion.

We could have photographed in this church all day long. The natural light was just amazing.

This just happens to be one of my favorite first dance photos.

It got a little emotional at the end of the night when Veronica said goodbye to her parents.

Post by David – You just kind of know it’s going to be one of those happy kind of days when you show up and the first thing that greets you is a dog in a tutu. It just sort of sets the stage for the rest of the day. It was a day filled with tearful bridesmaids and emotional toasts and speeches. It was highlighted by a bull running bridesmaid, a sunset glinted dinner, people on shoulders and dancing until the sweat drips like running water. People danced until we couldn’t help but join in. Kara and Blake’s wedding was just one of those days. The kind of days we’ll never forget and a couple we’ll remember forever.

A special little thanks to Aneesha and Kirk for recommending them to us through Kelly (one of Aneesha’s bridesmaids and Kara’s cousin).

Post by David – Emilyn and Cody heard about us through Anna and Braden, who had one of our favorite outdoor weddings, so we knew these two were going to be awesome to work with. We headed down to Indianapolis and met Emilyn and Cody at Arsenal Tech High School where they both used to teach. They live in New York now so this was something very special for the both of them. The surrounding grounds were filled with beautiful flowers, brick walls, and wrought iron fences covered in vines. We ran around all over the place with these two and they had no trouble keeping up with us. Then we all piled into our new Subaru Forester (they were the first ones we used it with – yay!) and after an outfit change we headed downtown to the canals and shot along the water as the sun went down. These two were totally in cahoots with our special blend of silliness and kept laughing the whole shoot. We cannot wait for their wedding next year in Bloomington, Indiana and look forward to seeing them again!

Post by David – “I don’t think I’ll cry,” said Matt with an honest look on his face. “No,” he continued, “I think it’ll probably be her that cries.” To which one of the groomsmen looked me dead in the eye and said, “He’ll cry.” True to the groomsman’s word, and also to Matt’s, they both cried up at the alter. They were both so happy and excited to be there and it seemed that the rule of the day was that if you’re about to cry you should make yourself laugh. Natalie and her bridesmaids laughed a lot during her ceremony.

There was more laughter at the reception too. It was an evening filled with heartfelt toasts and lots and lots of dancing. We were also happy to see our friend Chad there with the FreezeFramez Photobooth and couldn’t help but snap a couple photos of … people taking their photos? Does that count as cheating?

By the end of the night we were exhausted but so excited about the photos we were able to capture throughout the day. Thanks Natalie and Matt for making our jobs easy, for having so much fun and enjoying your day with every ounce of your energy. We wished the night could have gone on longer and if you guys are ever up for more photos, you know who to call.
