ON WITH THE BLOG ENTRY!!! -

Going to Peoria from southern Indiana feels a bit like going home to me. I was born in Bloomingt0n-Normal, Illinois (and yes I know the irony of living in Bloomington, Indiana). I’ve driven the roads back and forth so many times (though for some reason since getting a GPS I’ve nearly forgotten how?) and it doesn’t help but put a smile on my face every time I drive it. I know the hills, I know the corn fields, I remember where my father and I would count cows when we’d drive back to my Mom’s when the weekend was over. I think that these sorts of feelings are what Regan and Quinn’s wedding brought to mind. It felt like everyone was at home at their wedding, and though there was the usual inconsequential hiccup along the day (like the trolley breaking down…??) never once did the couple even pay it mind. It was freezing cold, but all the bridesmaids didn’t care, they were there for them. The people at this wedding made me feel at home, and even if it had been in a place I’d never been before I think I’d still have the same feelings.

Watching Quinn get fully dressed in his formal tuxedo, cumber bun and all a full hour before he needed to even start getting dressed I knew this guy was madly in love with Regan. He’d go over and look in the mirror, and stare into it for the longest time, with the most serious face I’ve ever seen on anyone. I could tell this day was so very important to him. It meant everything, and honestly their reception hall could have caught fire and burned down and as long as there was a priest, the rings and a witness he’d be cool with it.

Cathy was off with the girls, and every time I’d sneak into the room to check on her, I’d have to give status updates to Regan, nearly every one of which almost got her choked up. The full force of her emotions caught up with her at the vows though. If it wasn’t for being crouched down in front of the parents at the front of the church I would have never heard them. So overwhelmed with excitement, love, and butterflies, it was all Regan could do to just whisper the words out as her face desperately tried to keep in one piece.

At the end of the day, when songs had been sung, at the top of everyone’s lungs (even mine), the bag-pipes had been played, the cake cut, and the night drawing to a close we hugged and said our goodbyes to our new friends, Regan and Quinn. We took the familiar drive to my Mom’s house where we stayed for the weekend, and on the way there, I don’t think I ever stopped smiling.
