Happy Anniversary to my amazing wife!

I can’t believe it’s been two years.

Two years ago Cathy and I got married at University Church in Lafayette, Indiana while two amazing photographers took our pictures and helped us realize that photography didn’t have to be just a hobby. I remember not being able to stop crying while I did my best to say my vows. I promised her that I would take care of her and protect her from anything and everything. I remember my sister reading a passage from the Velvetine Rabbit about what is real before we were made husband and wife while her father, who was marrying us, did his best not to lose it, too.  I still remember taking your picture, taking Bobbi and Mike’s picture at our wedding when Bobbi shouted at me. There’s nothin’ finer than you with a camera in your hands. Was it really two years ago?

Yes. It was.

I wish I could just do the wiggly motion and say this was a flashback but here goes. I met Cathy in poetry class. She had pink hair (at least that’s when she said I noticed her) and was sitting next to me trying not to be completely creeped out by the guy sitting next to her showing pictures of his cat on his cell phone (me). She even was nice enough to follow me to my car when I thought I’d lost my keys only to discover I’d left it running for two maybe three class periods. Somehow she kept talking to me after that and six months later, we were engaged. a year and a half after that and we were married. Now two years later we’re working together nearly every weekend capturing other people falling as hard for eachother as we did. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

I hope you know how much I love working with you, and spending every waking moment being around you. My heart aches when you leave the room and I am relieved when you come back. You’re like a breath of fresh air every time I see you and whenever I do I fall in love all over again. You’ve made me into a better person because I strive every day to be good enough for you. I never deserved someone as kind and understanding as you but God was nice enough to give me a break, and let me have you anyways. 

I’ve put together a little slideshow of my favorite images of you, and the times we’ve spent together, and the people we’ve met along the way in our journeys. I know some of them have you making silly faces but I love it when you make them and it makes me happy.I know most of them are just pictures of you, but I hope it helps you understand that these images are what I see when I close my eyes every moment of the day, and I am so freaking lucky to have met, fallen in love, and married a woman like you. I may say that I live for photography, but the truth is, I live for you. I love you.
