Georgian Club Atlanta Wedding Photography | Elizabeth and Erik

Elizabeth and Erik’s Wedding at the Georgian Club – Atlanta Georgia
Post by David

We met Elizabeth and Erik at Lizzie and David’s Bloomington, Indiana wedding. We thought right then and there that these two were going to be lot of fun to work with, and after we shot their engagement session last fall we knew for sure. Their wedding was to take place in Atlanta, Georgia and after a long drive through a freak snow storm (btw, people in the south have no idea how to drive in the snow!) we arrived at our hotel and were ready to shoot their wedding the next day. We were excited to be down south, as we have some photographer friends down there and neither of us had done much more than drive through Atlanta.

The next morning we met up with Elizabeth at her parents’ house where I dropped Cathy off and headed over to the church to meet up with the guys. Erik was helping the band with their music that he had arranged for their ceremony (!) while Lizzie and David enjoyed the music. It felt like deja vu.:DTheir reception took place high atop an Atlanta building in the Georgian Club, which had some of the best service of any venue we’ve shot at (THANKS!). We really enjoyed how their reception hall was split up into multiple rooms, so people could converse without loud music in one, and dance in another, which we thought was a great idea for future brides.:)Despite all the snow and cold weather the wedding went beautifully, the people danced all night long to the totally awesome jazz band, and we were sad for the night to come to an end as the two waved goodbye from the window of their Mini-Cooper and drove off to start their lives together.

Elizabeth & Erik- Thank you two for being one the sweetest couples ever!  Hope you had a blast on your honeymoon!!!:)

Meet Elizabeth!

Meet Erik!

I got this photo by taking around 12-15 images and then merging them together.:)
One of my favorite photos.:)

Cathy’s favorite.

Might have to frame this one next to the garter toss shot from Annie and Josh’s Chicago wedding.
These two had us laughing all night long.:)
My favorite of the day, for sure.:D
It’s so hard not to follow around past bride and grooms we’ve shot, at weddings, like Lizzie and David here.:D
This might just be my fav bridal portrait that Cat has done.:)
A special thanks to Erik and Elizabeth for being so awesome and letting us share their special day with us.:DWe had so much fun with you two and can’t wait to show you the rest of your photos!:)

Thanks for reading! – David.

Champaign Country Club Wedding Photography | Holly and Todd

Wedding Photography Coverage at the Champaign Country Club – Champaign, Illinois
Post by David. – Cathy and David Photographers

We first talked to Holly and Todd about their New Year’s Eve wedding less than 4 weeks before it was to take place. They had just become engaged in October and after being together for three years, they simply couldn’t wait any longer.

So a couple of weeks later, with a fresh layer of snow upon the grounds of the Champaign Country Club, we met up with Todd an hour before the wedding. We found him in a bit of a panic and slightly worried for his bride to be. Apparently, the salon doing Holly’s hair was an epic fail, as they say, and after two hours of the stylist screwing up her hair, Holly had thrown up her arms and gone home to do it herself. Todd shouldn’t have been worried though. Holly did an amazing job and was an absolute joy, as the rest of the day went by flawlessly. We had so much fun with this couple, counting down the clock with them, laughing with their friends and family, and having such an awesome time for our last wedding of 2009, and first (:-D) wedding of 2010.

A special thank you to the Champaign Country Club for their amazing service, care and kindness. You guys were great!:)

“Booyah!” as Ashton Kutcher would say.:-DSorry. Love those Nikon commercials. LOL!

Quite possibly one of my favorite bridal portraits.:)

Love. ^_^

Holly and Todd were sweet enough to let us drag them outside when it was 11-degrees out.:-DThankfully they were hot enough.;)

Normally I don’t post things like family formals on the blog, but I just found this one too touching to resist.:)It might be my fav of the day.

We’re just as confused as you are.:)

Cathy’s favorite shot of the day.:)

Happy New Year’s!

These have to be quite possibly, the BEST senior portrait photos, EVER.:-DThey had pictures of their childhood at every table, each one a different age group.

Fantastic job, guys!! Loved the ones by the Christmas tree!! They looked so happy throughout the whole day!

Dad - January 10, 2010 - 11:16 pm

Definitely difficult to pick a favorite. Loved the colors and the shadowing of the feet on the hard wood floor, the intensity of the two in a tango and the gentleman holding the strings. However my favorite was the far away shot in the darkened hallway that was both romantic and mysterious. Well done.

Karalee - January 10, 2010 - 5:36 pm

Such a beautiful wedding and so stunningly captured. They look so perfectly happy :)

Maria Barker - January 10, 2010 - 2:29 pm

What a teaser! Now I can’t wait to see all the wedding photos. Fantastic job, Cathy and David. It was a fun wedding, with many personal, precious moments. You caught some we didn’t know about. Love it, love it!

Lori Herrin - January 10, 2010 - 12:31 pm

It is totally impossible to pick out a favorite because they were all so well done. However, the gentlemen holding on to the strings of Holly’s dress and his expression was PRICELESS!!
Love you! Mom

Janice - January 10, 2010 - 12:24 pm

Stunning…when the subjects are perfect, so are the photos!

Christine Elizabeth - January 10, 2010 - 11:26 am

Fabulous! I love them! I can’t pick a fave, but I really love the groom and generations ;) Those moments always get me! And the black and white of them 3 from the end.

You guys totally rock! ;) Happy New Year!

Angi Davis - January 10, 2010 - 11:19 am

Pure AWESOME-NESS! I love her flowers and that dress…GAH!! Nicely done once again. Oh, and I’d never heard of this venue before, which is bad since I’ve lived here for over ten years. :O)

Palmer House Chicago Wedding Photography | Annie and Josh

Wedding Photography Coverage at The Palmer House, Hilton – Chicago, Illinois
Post by Cathy – Cathy and David Photographers

Nov. 28, 2009 – To start off with, I have to say that Annie is one of our sweetest brides ever. While we were in Chicago shooting Dyanne and Reid’s Oak Park wedding (which was coordinated by Kate, one of Annie’s bridesmaids!), she drove an hour just to meet with us at our hotel and talk about the details of her wedding: Chandeliers, vintage hairstyles, black floor-length gowns, a warmly-lit ballroom in one of the oldest hotels in Chicago. Everything about Annie and Josh’s wedding was full of simple elegance and tasteful sophistication. We could not wait to shoot it!

So, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, on a chilly morning in downtown Chicago, we headed to the Palmer House, by Hilton, where the girls were running in and out of the bridal suite with dresses and shoes, makeup and jewelry. And at the center of the storm, was the calm and cheerful Annie. Her bridesmaids were willingly at her beck and call, whether it was gluing on eyelashes, writing out placecards, or just giving an opinion on jewelry, they were there for her. Definitely one of the best group of bridesmaids and one of the best maid of honors I’ve seen yet.:)And then came time to help Annie into her dress …. oh the dress. This had to be one of my FAVORITE wedding gowns ever. It is so breathtaking and suited Annie perfectly as she was walked down the aisle by both her mom and dad toward her handsome groom, Josh.:)

The ceremony and reception were so full of love and joy. The band was over-the-top AMAZING and played their heart outs all night long while the guests danced and partied just as hard. And I have to mention that for a guestbook, Josh and Annie laid out a collection of vintage postcards for their guests to write messages on. What an awesome idea!! Anyways, this wedding was an amazing celebration to photograph. The night fled by so quickly and we were sad to pack up and leave at the end of the night. Annie and Josh – Thanks so so much to you and your families for being so gracious, so real, and so full of joy.:)Hope you enjoy the photos!!!! And here they are…

One of my favorite getting ready shots that David has taken.

Annie? Seriously. You are absolutely stunning!:-D

David loves this photo I took.:)

We love elevator photos, but this is one of our favorites.:D

How swank do these guys look?:-D

One of our favorite first dances, ever.

The maid of honor gave a super-touching speech. Both of us got a little choked up.

Did we mention how gorgeous the Palmer House is for weddings? WOW.

Best garter toss shot, ever.:-DUsually they don’t go crazy for it, but this time, they went all out!:)

We love the expression on the bridesmaid’s face behind them.:)

Just a couple last things. A VERY special thank you to the staff of the Palmer House, Hilton. Your hotel was one of the absolute best places we’ve ever worked. Not because of how gorgeous it is, but because of how courteous and attentive the staff were, treating us like guests of the wedding party and not just as vendors, and for their super-fantastic catering director Jane, who has the thing down to an art form. THANK YOU! If you’re getting married in Chicago, Illinois and want an amazing downtown location for your wedding, look no further.

Thanks again to Annie and Josh. You guys were so kind and awesome to work with. We had such a fun time with the both of you and your bridal party and family. Thank you!:-D

*A special thanks as well to Ruffled, for featuring her amazing vintage hairstyle on their wedding inspiration blog.*
