Their wedding was at the gorgeous St. Paul Catholic Church was was just plain stunning to say the least with it’s incredible stained glass walls. The ceremony was filled with Filipino traditions that were completely new to us and their reception was filled with the same love and joy that one would expect from such a sweet couple.

We had so much fun with these two and loved how much the couple spent out on the dance floor, and how much their family did with them. It’s weddings like these when we question if we’re really, truly, working.

Mom gave her son a kiss and left some lipstick. Thankfully a couple bleach pens later and you’d never know.

I love the photo on the left. They were sneaking back from the photos with us.

It was so sweet. About a minute in to each dance other father-daughter and mother-son couples came out on the floor.

The gal below on the left sang a special ‘At Last’ and I swear she did it better than Ella Fitzgerald!

The couple had rented an old-school photobooth for their wedding and just had to snap a couple of these two.

That said, we knew they were perfect for a video project we’ve been working on with Northernlight Filmworks‘ John and Jen Moon (who are some of the absolute best wedding cinematographers in the midwest, if not the country in our opinion). All of us met up at Meredith and Ulises’ new place in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and sat aside while John and Jen interviewed them about their experiences with working with us and went over their beautiful album for the first time. We can’t wait for you to see the video and it’ll be here when it’s done, so just be patient (and that goes for you too Mer! ).

Next we all piled into our cars and drove downtown to Millennium Park to shoot their newlywed session, and John’s steady-cam team met up with us to get some super-cool shots of us working. We had so much fun with these two and I’d love to say that it was ‘like‘ getting together with old friends, but in all honesty, that’s exactly what it was. We are happy to call them friends and can’t wait to see them again.

PhotoBooth on June 12th, 2010 at a backyard wedding in Bloomington, Indiana - (Post by David) We had so much fun with Anna and Sean and their guests at our Photobooth. It was beyond hysterical to see their friends and family go nuts with the props that Anna provided. We like every Photobooth to be unique so the couple can provide their own props and gag items or the friends and family can grab whatever is nearby and drag it in. Remember our umbrella we brought to the wedding but never needed? Yah well.. it was needed in the Photobooth.

Apparently myopic vikings wielded tennis rackets when they got married…?

We were totally shocked to see this gal who was a bridesmaid at Anna and Braden’s wedding!

By the end of the night the grass floor of the tent had become something reminiscent of Woodstock — random puddles, muddy bare feet, and lots of dancing. People cared less about their shoes and more about having fun. It was amazing to see nothing get in the way of the love and happiness of the newlywed couple.

What’s great is that the next two photos were taken nearly at the same time.

Somebody wants a camera!

The little ring-bearer basically tried to give everyone at the wedding the pillow on the way down. Including me!

Yup. Their Buick is waaaaay cooler than ours.

It was seriously humid. But they didn’t sweat it. (Bad joke, I know!)

Next the wind started to blow like crazy.

And the rain started pouring.

And they couldn’t be happier.

They also did a slideshow on the ceiling. Natural light here — this is how dark it was when the power went out!

My shoes were pretty mild by comparison to most. The only dry place in the entire tent was our PhotoBooth (coming later this week)!

We picked up our friend Amanda Hoffman, who came along as our assistant for the day as she wanted to get some experience shooting weddings. She’s going to be shooting her first wedding on her own soon, so we wanted her to get a little more air-time before she did it alone. Anyways, after dropping off Cat at the salon I met up with the guys at a building by the church where they were doing jumping into bean bag chair contests, seeing how far they could go. It was a little crazy. Thankfully however the building was air conditioned and was the place to be whenever it got too hot outside for people (we’re talking 90+ degrees, okay? Super-hot for us midwest people). After their ceremony was over and a harrowing adventure in the Mustang getaway car, we went through her list of formals in no time (thanks to their family for being so organized!).

We had so much fun at their reception, shooting in our PhotoBooth (coming up on the next blog entry), listening to the heartfelt toasts and laughing with their family and friends. Everyone at this wedding was warm, inviting and made us feel like family. Even with the guest list topping 350 people (…wow…) it seemed as though everyone knew everyone, and the hugs and cheer never ceased. Everyone danced at their wedding, the waiters, us, the family and friends, even the DJ and his wife at the end (seriously, these two could be on dancing with the stars!!!). We had such a fun time with all of them, and when the lights came back on and the last dance was over, we were sad to go.

How crazy-awesome are these shoes? How she walked down the aisle (oh yes! she walked in these!!) I have NO idea.

The kids at this wedding were BEYOND adorable.

Little story here. Something I’ve never seen at a wedding ceremony before that we thought was a great idea. Instead of lighting candles, Emily and Mike brought a little tree to which they both poured in dirt and now will keep this as a keepsake for their wedding. Our wedding candle is in a box somewhere. Kind of wish we would have done this for our wedding! Great idea guys!

It was a bit emotional for everyone.

They had this bad boy spin it’s tires after the ceremony. It was pretty rad. I love this photo. For the record, Cathy, my awesome wife got this while driving their SUV (to the reception) in one hand and her camera in the other.

No words.

Everyone at their wedding was in tears at one point or another.

One of her bridesmaids gave her speech (the wolfpack toast from Hangover, LOL!) off of her iPhone.

I love that everyone has a different ‘ready-pose’ when it comes to the bouquet toss.

Okay seriously. The little ring bearer here (note the color-coordinator binky) walked right up to the two of them while Mike was going for the garter and just stared at them. Everyone was in hysterics. Guess who caught it?

Yup. That’s right. Startin’ young.

Nashville, Indiana — If you’ve never been to Nashville, IN, it’s definitely a nice place to visit on a lazy, sunny spring day. Tons of cute shops, horse drawn carriages, and the best strawberry shortcake on the planet (at the Hobnob Corner Restaurant). Since Jason had visited Nashville a lot growing up, he and Jennifer thought it would be the perfect spot for their engagement session, and we had a blast finding tons of cute little spots to shoot in. And even though Jason hates getting his photo taken (though I can’t understand why… these two could seriously be models), he was such a trooper and barely complained at all. Oh the things we do for love.

As the sun headed down we took a short drive over to Brown County State Park.

David seems to want to risk his life on every session. The photo on the right was his shot, the one on the left is mine. He fell down the hill which was incredibly steep and slippery to get it, but he thinks the scrapes were worth it. Me too.

Chicago, Illinois — We’ve been in talks with these two for quite a while now and were so excited to finally be able to shoot their engagement session in Chicago. Laura and John are a non-stop happiness machine, which might be the cheesiest thing I’ve ever said, but seriously these two just don’t quit! John (who seriously looks like Joshua Gates from Destination Truth, one of my absolute favorite shows) kept us all laughing the entire session. From chasing seagulls, to manly poses in tulips; it just makes me more excited about their wedding day and how fun they are going to be to work with. Anyways, thanks again guys for the fun, the laughs, and for the chance to get to shoot in one of my favorite cities.

Let me tell yah, Lake Shore Drive is cold 365 days of the year. I don’t care if it’s August. But, you’d never know from these two.

Word to the wise. When the wind hits, Buckingham Fountain’s spray likes to follow you, or at least me…

For some reason there was music playing through speakers in Grant Park at around 8pm for no reason. It reminded me of Disneyworld and was so completely random. Regardless, Laura and John decided to dance.
