Post by David – So every so often I feel as though I risk my life for a shot. Not really risking my life in the war photographer sort of way, but in that way where maybe I’m standing on a trash can and my clumsiness is going to cause me to snap my neck or something. This was one of those kinds of weddings. At the end of the night Cathy told me about this fire escape where she had taken a couple of photos earlier that she thought would look great in the photos. What she didn’t tell me was that it was on the 30th floor, looked about ready to fall of the building and about as safe as a rope bridge in an Indian Jones movie. While Cathy jogged up and down the clanging steps as if she was getting a pop from the fridge, I found myself trying to remember what an amazing day we had with Lauren and Chris just in case this was it. And it was an amazing day. The family, the church the venue — every bit of it was wonderful. If only I could have told my heart to stop pounding out of my chest. In the end the shot was worth it and finished of an incredible day with these two. The above one was what Cathy took on her own during the morning, you’ll have to wait till the end to see my vertigo inducer.
I have to wonder if our past bride Meredith will notice the logo on her compact. 🙂
It was a bit windy.
Extremely windy. On a side note the image below now reminds me of Gregory Crewdson’s work.
Thanks guys for being so brave, so encouraging and not laughing too hard while I clung to the wall like a frightened cat. We loved working with you and hope to see you again!
